Laparoscopy

The treatment for tubal and peritoneal factors, which account for 30–40% of cases of the various causes of infertility in women, needs surgical intervention.

Some of the indications for laparoscopy are:
Diagnostic laparoscopy:

1. If you are older than 35 years
2. You had an abnormal HSG test result
3. If, despite a normal HSG, you are still unable to conceive
4. Have an undiagnosed infertility issue

Operative (therapeutic) laparoscopy:

1.  If you have endometriosis of any kind
2.  A benign tumour in the ovaries or fallopian tubes
3. Genital prolapse
4.  PCOS
5. Require tubal reconstruction surgery
6. Adhesion removal is required or adhesiolysis

You may not be qualified for both therapeutic and diagnostic laparoscopy in instances like

1. More than 16 weeks pregnant
2. Serious cardiopulmonary conditions
3. Significant pelvic infections
4. Generalised peritonitis
5. Blockage in the intestines
6. Large pelvic tumour in advanced cancer stage
7. Someone who is on anticoagulant therapy
