Egg & Embryo Donation

Egg & Embryo Donation

A common ART approach for assisting couples with infertility concerns is the donor programme.

Overview

The donor programme is a way to help persons who, for medical, personal, or other reasons, are unable to use their own sperm or eggs. Because the woman is using a donor’s egg to conceive, the desired mother won’t be genetically related to the child she is carrying, but the father will be if he intended to use his sperm for egg fertilisation or did not use the sperm donor. In some circumstances, a gestational carrier is required to carry the embryo or fertilised egg all the way until delivery in order to complete the pregnancy.

Egg and embryo donation

Both men and women who qualify for the donation scheme are thoroughly checked using a variety of criteria. They undergo tests for syphilis, a sexually transmitted disease, hepatitis B and C, and HIV. They are informed about the donor programme and registered in the scheme in accordance with their desire to give gametes after undergoing a number of other crucial examinations.

The following medical problems or patients are considered eligible for the donor programme in IVF:

  1. Females experiencing infertility issues
